The British-made version that airs on BBC America is censored for language and nudity. It will be interesting to see how sanitized the MTV version might be.
MTV promised the edgy UK drama won't be softened for the United States, though it won't contain nudity like the original version and certain four letter words will be taken out. The new "Skins" may also get a late-night slot. Executive producer Charlie Pattinson said he wants to make sure "Skins" continues to be "the absolute opposite of 'Gossip Girl.'" ("Skins" debuted about eight months before "Gossip Girl," in January 2007.) "While obviously there are going to have to be cultural changes, we wanted to not to water it down too much or you end up with a mellow generic teen show and that would be a waste of time and money for everyone," he said.
