JK Rowling's Casual Vacancy to become BBC mini-series
JK Rowling's The Casual Vacancy is to be made into a three-hour mini-series by the BBC, in collaboration with HBO.
Sarah Phelps has penned the adaptation of Rowling's book, set in the West Country, which follows an unexpected death in a small-town community.
Filming will begin this summer in south west England.
The BBC commissioned the mini-series shortly after Rowling's first adult novel was published in 2012, to mixed reviews.
At the time, BBC One controller Danny Cohen called the Harry Potter author's story-telling "peerless in its popularity".
The book sold 125,000 copies in its first week on the market, becoming the fastest-selling hardback in the UK for three years.
US cable channel HBO, which made its name with cult shows such as The Sopranos and Sex and the City, have previously co-produced Ricky Gervais comedy Extras and 2013's Parade's End with the BBC.
Rowling, who has said in the past that she believes The Casual Vacancy is "best-suited to television", will executive produce the mini-series.
TRAMA:
The plot centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind its pretty facade, however, is a town at war: rich at war with the poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands and teachers at war with their students.

The first confirmed cast for the BBC One mini-series, in association with HBO, adaptation of JK Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy has been announced.

Sono contentissimo per il fatto che, anche in Italia, arriverà House of Cards.
La pagina Wikipedia indica anche Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Boardwalk Empire e i Borgia (già viste su Sky Cinema).
Il fatto che trasmetterà serie HBO e di Canal+ mi fa sperare che un giorno potremo vedere serie come True Detective e Les Revenants in Italia.

Ho da poco comprato un Nokia Lumia 920 (
) e vi volevo chiedere se c'era sullo Store qualche app per vedere file video (mkv, avi o mp4) con i sottotitoli. Leggevo online di un possibile porting di VLC ma l'articolo sembra vecchiotto 
e altre app non ne ho trovate
Qualcuno mi può aiutare, magari con qualche app semi-sconosciuta?

La Warner Bros. ha appena annunciato, in accordo con J.K. Rowling, che è in arrivo un nuovo franchise cinematografico ambientato nel mondo di Harry Potter e ispirato al romanzo Animali Fantastici: Dove Trovarli.
La storia seguirà le vicende di Newt Scamander.
Dichiarazione di JK Rowling:
"Tutto è cominciato quando la Warner Bros. è venuta da me a chiedermi di trasformare Animali Fantastici: dove Trovarli in un film. Pensavo fosse un’idea divertente, ma non mi piaceva l’idea di lasciare Newt Scamander in mano ad uno sceneggiatore. Avendo vissuto così tanto nel mio universo, mi sento molto protettiva a riguardo e già conoscevo tantissimo di Newt. I fan di Harry Potter sanno che mi piaceva così tanto che ho fatto sposare Luna Lovegood, uno dei miei personaggi preferiti, con il nipote di Newt, Rolf.
Mentre prendevo in considerazione la proposta, un’idea si è fatta strada nella mia mente. E’ così che sono finita per diventare la sceneggiatrice di un film per la Warner Bros.
Anche se è ambientato nella stessa comunità magica, Animali Fantastici Dove Trovarli non è nè un prequel nè un sequel della serie di Harry Potter, ma un’estensione del mondo magico. Le leggi e le usanze del mondo magico saranno familiari a tutti coloro che hanno letto i libri di Harry Potter e visto i film, ma la storia di Newt partirà a New York, 70 anni prima della nascita di Harry” ha dichiarato J.K. Rowling.
Ho sempre detto che sarei tornata a visitare il mondo che ho creato qualora avessi trovato una buona idea, e questa lo è."

Se saranno belli, tanto meglio e se saranno brutti, almeno non intaccherano la saga originale con un sequel

Howard Overman wrote several episodes of the show as a staff writer. The trio will produce Atlantis through their new company Urban Myth Films. Executive produced for BBC Cymru Wales by Bethan Jones. The drama series was commissioned by Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama, and Danny Cohen, Controller, BBC One.
The series is filmed in Wales and Morocco. A 155,000sq ft warehouse, a former cold store building near Chepstow was converted into a vast TV studio to house the sets and filming of Atlantis. The facility will employ a service staff up to 140 people.
Atlantis is set to be one of the most expensive projects from BBC Wales and is being primed for the incoming UK tax breaks for high-end drama productions. Filming began on 1 April 2013.
On July 22, 2013 BBC America announced that the channel is co-producing Atlantis, and the show will be broadcast stateside in autumn 2013 as part of "Supernatural Saturday."
Alice Troughton (Merlin, Doctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures) has signed on to direct.
La serie mi sembra promettente, nel cast spicca Mark Addy (Re Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones) mentre il creatore è Howard Overman, lo stesso di Misfits.

"Heroes" is being revived as a comic book from Dynamite Entertainment.
Comic Book Resources broke the news of the new series following the adventures of the NBC characters created by Tim Kring. "The Sixth Gun" writer Cullen Bunn will pen the new "Heroes" comic book series. Bunn told CBR he was a fan of the NBC series.
The new comic book series picks up where "Heroes" left off. "Right off the bat, Claire is going to be our point of view character. The first issue is centered more on her than anyone else. That said, you're going to see most of those core characters early on in the first few issues," Bunn told CBR. "Hiro was the character I always liked most in the show for a number of reasons. So you'll be seeing him and Sylar and a bunch of others who will get thrown back into the story early on. Claire, Hiro and Sylar will be big right off the bat, but it won't be long before you see all the core characters."
In April 2013, there were rumors that MSN and Xbox were looking at reviving "Heroes." However, nothing was ever confirmed.
