NBC's bust out of Las Vegas in the middle of a two-part episode still rankles the show's executive producer Gary Scott Thompson, even though the network has thrown him a lucrative bone, the executive producer's job on the revived Knight Rider.
Thompson was asked at the press tour session for Knight Rider if reports were true he would have the Las Vegas characters played by Josh Duhamel and Molly Sims make an appearance on Knight Rider as a way to resolve their storyline.
Forget it, Thompson said. "There was a joke in the writers' room that somehow got out about having Danny and Delinda walk through an episode with a baby. It got picked up by the press. It has gotten picked up so much that Josh and Molly came to me the other day and said, 'Are we going to walk through the show?' But they are two different shows. I think it would be unfair to both sets of fans to try and do something like that."
What's more, Thompson doesn't want to let NBC off the hook with disappointed fans. "To be honest, I would hate to give the people who canceled the show the satisfaction of walking the cast through for a resolution."
Thompson also has a selfish motive for not giving away the endings. "I'm talking to people right now to raise the money to do a feature (film) to resolve it," Thompson said. "I have a whole two-hour movie in my head."
