Though Mike’s nemesis Ray is out of the picture, shut up in a psychiatric lockdown facility, the repercussions of their conflict have done irreparable harm. Mike’s family is falling apart, Audrey’s asking for a divorce and Sadie is acting out in ways deeply unnerving. Mike comes to rely on police psychiatrist Penelope Verrity in ways that compromise him and threaten to bring about both his and Sadie’s destruction. Penelope may have murdered her daughter and a forensic investigation almost proves the case- then turns into nothing. Mike’s relationship with Penelope, his insight into her, is the only chance to catch this killer. But Penelope has her hooks into Mike. He realizes finally that he’s not the man he thought he was, but does he have the courage to face himself.? When Sadie unearths a piece of his past that damns him he will see that he must make a choice. Either he acts for truth and good or he loses himself forever.
