Romeo and Brittney, in cui Romeo sarà Robert Sheehan (Nathan di Misfits) e la madre del personaggio di Karen sarà Gillian Anderson (Scully di X-Files).
'Doctor Who' Star Karen Gillan Set For 'Romeo and Brittney'We always knew Karen Gillan — feisty, fire-haired companion Amy Pond on Doctor Who — would be absolutely perfect for the big screen, and today Deadline is reporting that the Scottish beauty has been cast in the new film Romeo and Brittney. Gillan will play “a spiky New Jersey high school teenager who finds herself trapped Alice In Wonderland-style in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.” (Karen as a Joisey girl? Will Teresa Guidice of the Real Housewives offer her services as an accent coach?)
In the story, Gillan’s character “wakes up in mythical 13th century Verona with all the people she knows from her high school life playing characters in the play. And she wants to get out because she knows how the play ends.”
Set to start shooting in May, the comedy will co-star Gillian Anderson in the dual roles of Karen’s mother (brilliant casting) and the Nurse, and young star Robert Sheehan (Misfits) will play her geeky Romeo. Comedian David Baddiel will direct. Producer Arvind Ethan David calls the project “Shakespeare In Love meets Clueless.”
