"per ora penso che si sarebbero dovuti fermare qui, da tanto mi ha soddisfatto questo finale."
Per fortuna non si sono fermatialtre soddisfazioni verranno
Anche alla HBO volevano fermarsi, è stato Simon a convincerli, cito dal libro di Alan Sepinwall:
“Albrecht recalls telling Simon, “David, the show’s over. Declare victory here. This is great. People think the show’s great. How are you gonna top that?”
As he would to secure every renewal but that initial one, Simon would write a long letter outlining his plans for the following season and arguing for his show’s survival.
“And it would be a letter,” Albrecht recalls(*). “It wasn’t an email. He’s a great writer, and it was a great letter. We always appreciated the show. The attitude we had was, ‘If we don’t do this, who’s gonna do it?’ The quality of the work certainly deserved it, and David’s passion deserved it.”
(*) I spoke with Albrecht at his office at Starz, where he now works as CEO. The door was slightly ajar throughout the interview, and when I left, Albrecht’s assistant (who had worked with him at HBO) stopped me to say, “And those letters were always single-spaced.” They made an impression.
“Every time David’s back was to the wall, he would sell it with story,” says Strauss. “That show was on death’s door at the end of every fucking season, and then he would send you the treatment, and you’d go, ‘We gotta do it, we gotta do it.’”
So Albrecht ordered a fourth season, but took enough time in doing so that 19 months passed between episodes. Simon had a two-season plan to conclude the series, with the fourth-season finale leaving many developments up in the air.”
