Shenae Grimes has explained that she failed to relate to her character on the fourth season of 90210.

The actress - who has played Annie Wilson on the show since 2008 - said that her recent escort storyline left her feeling baffled.

Grimes's character is seduced by a priest named Caleb (Robert Hoffman), but the 22-year-old admitted at the recent CW upfronts presentation that it is a far cry from what Annie was likely to do.

She told Us Weekly: "Playing Annie this season was really hard for me because I had zero connection to her storyline whatsoever.

"To me, it seemed really off-base that my character would even be behaving that way, because she does come from a pretty solid family and there was never any mention of her reaching out to her parents at all for money or anything."

Grimes added: "I mean, they had a house in Beverly Hills, her mum's living in Paris - it's not like they're broke, so I couldn't really wrap my head around the thought process behind what was going on, so that made it difficult.

"Fortunately the actors I was working with were amazing... they just helped me connect."

L'Hollywood reporter cita  l'articolo di tv line che dice che una fonte della Cw ha detto che ci sarà anche nella quinta stagione come guest. Il titolo di TvLine è chairo, dice che la Zinser non è più una regular del cast. Se non doveva tornare più più penso che il titolo sarebbe stato "Zinser lascia 90210".

Two new characters for 90210's fifth season have been revealed.

The CW series, which stars the likes of Shenae Grimes, AnnaLynne McCord and Jessica Lowndes, will feature a newcomer called Tyler, "a club promoter who has a knack for spotting new talent in the music field".


According to E!, 90210 will also introduce a "charming tech hottie" named Alec who has been likened to Justin Timberlake's portrayal of Sean Parker in The Social Network.

It has been revealed that Gillian Zinser (Ivy) will not be back for the show's fifth season.

Grimes recently confessed that she was "baffled" by some of her character Annie's storylines in season four, particularly one that saw her work as an escort.

"I had zero connection to her storyline whatsoever," she explained. "To me, it seemed really off-base that my character would even be behaving that way.

"I couldn't really wrap my head around the thought process behind what was going on."

A new guy is moving to 90210 — and he’s got his sights set on Annie Wilson.
TVLine has learned exclusively that 24 alum Riley Smith has booked a recurring role in Season 5 of the CW sudser, playing a new love interest for Shenae Grimes’ gal that dates a lot of guys about town.

Smith — whose recent TV credits include installments of The Glades and The Closer — is no stranger to lengthy series gigs. Over the course of his career, he has enjoyed arcs on the aforementioned 24 (in Season 3), as well as critical darling Freaks and Geeks, Bob Saget’s Raising Dad, cult hit Joan of Arcadia and the short-lived Nathan Fillion vehicle Drive.

Justin Deeley is poised to exit the CW soap after just one season.

According to sources, the actor — who first joined 90210 last year as Austin, a California cowboy with a thing for AnnaLynne McCord’s Naomi — will be written out in the season premiere (airing Monday, Oct. 8 at 8/7c). However, a rep for the show maintains that the “door is still open for him to reappear in future episodes.”
The move makes sense considering Deeley didn’t have much to do in the wake of Austin and Naomi’s split (save for his character offering to help Adrianna with her fledgling singing career in May’s finale.)

Other casting shakeups in Season 5 include the departure of series regular Gillian Zinser, who played surfer chick Ivy, and a strong recurring “promotion” for Josh Zuckerman’s dweeby Max (vedi spoiler sotto).

Ex-90210 star Trevor Donovan is reportedly in talks to return to the show.

The actor will star as gay student Teddy Montgomery for at least the first two episodes of season five and could have a bigger presence depending on scheduling, according to Zap2It.

The character was written out during 90210's fourth season, but returned in the finale and agreed to father a baby with ex-girlfriend Silver (Jessica Stroup) before she undergoes cancer treatment.

As well as a return to 90210, Donovan is also being considered to play Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

Season five of 90210 premieres Monday, October 8 on The CW.
